Math Lab Concept

Researchers observed that understanding patterns and visualization helps a student learn even complex mathematics and apply them to new problems. The team from IIT Jodhpur (faculty members & alumni) who conceived and developed this Math Lab are convinced that this lab provides a platform for teachers to teach the theoretical and abstract concepts of mathematics through experiments and visualizations — accompanied by study material for reflective thinking.

Almost 50% of students are afraid of maths. Math is the highest-scoring subject in every competitive exam, but a better score can only be secured with the help of the best faculty — which is practically impossible in most cases. Keeping this in mind, EduMEasy has made equipment for the Maths Lab which helps students learn math in a better and more joyful manner.

This equipment is going to make math easy, more results-oriented, and students are going to love learning up to the level of understanding math easily. Concepts and colors both matter — and this Math Lab designed & developed by IITians will bring revolution to the field of Math. This Math Lab is designed to cover the entire NCERT Syllabus.

What is a Math Lab?

A Mathematics Laboratory is a place where anybody can experiment and explore patterns and ideas. It houses a rich collection of games, puzzles, and teaching-learning materials. The Math Lab provides students the opportunity to discover the "learning by doing" method — where many activities present a problem or challenge, with the possibility of generating further challenges and problems.

The activities help students to visualize, manipulate, and reason. They provide an opportunity to make conjectures and test them, and generalize observed patterns. They create a context for students to attempt to prove their conjectures. The Math Lab is a place to enjoy mathematics through informal exploration — a space where anyone can generate problems and struggle to get an answer.

Often the Math Lab takes students' knowledge beyond the curriculum. It is a self-directed space with activities where students can come anytime and engage in work, continue on problems and tasks, and use teachers only when they are stuck. In this way, the role of the teacher is not to instruct how to progress — but to facilitate inquiry with the mathematics within it.

MoU signed between RScSE (Dept. of School Education) and EduMEasy on 23rd August 2022 for pilot in 11 schools of Jodhpur.

Collaborated with Eklava Foundation, Indeed Foundation, and Saura Urja on CSR-driven projects to expand quality math education.

Collaborated with Surya Urja and JSW, installing Math Labs in Phalodi, Nagaur, and Nagpur's tribal area schools with the Maharashtra government.

Published "Math Lab: Learning Math by Doing Math" in the research journal IIT Jodhpur TechScape.
